Wicked Weeders Tuesday 12 September

Hi all,

We had another successful planting on Sunday🌳 Thank you to all who helped set up, John for putting in the extra holes and Lorna and Peter for looking after the plants. 💚

Tomorrow we will head back to the site and make sure that all plants are planted correctly. Mulch may have been delivered; if it is there, we will start spreading it around the plants.

Tuesday 1230-230pm

Hipapatua, off of Huka Falls Road

I will bring a couple of spades, buckets, stakes + ties, and afternoon tea. I may try to remember to pick up some extra soil beforehand.

Don’t forget your gloves. It could be a good day so dont forget your hat 👒

Good turnout on Sunday 🌱

There are a couple of things going on this week that you are more than welcome to join in on if you wish. If you need more details, please just flick me a message or call me.

Thursday 14th September - 9am -12

We have the team from Love Taupō coming out to Hipapatua to do some infilling in the older plantings closer to the river. I do have a few extra plants to put in so you are more than welcome to come along and help the Love Taupō team out (and me 😁)

Friday 15th September from 10am

I am planning to head to Hatepe on Friday to support The Hatepe bush restoration project. They are keen to have some support to help. They have 1,000 trees (funded by Trees That Count) to get in the ground.
Plant Layout - 10am Friday, 15 September
Planting Day - 10am Saturday, 16 September

This is from the organiser Chris Mercer
The planting site is located on the right after the bridge crossing the Hinemaiaia River heading south towards Tūrangi. Check out the map below for more information. Parking has been indicated on the map, more parking is available at the end of Hinemaiaia Lane in the anglers’ carpark. Orange cones will indicate junctions close to the areas to be planted.

Bring your gumboots, gloves, clothing for any weather and your favourite spade. The layout will include digging holes, but the ground is pumice sand so should be easy digging. Plants will be in T28 trays or pots, about half and half. Each plant will get a fert tab, weed-mat and stake. There will be a hot drink and biscuits afterwards for all helpers - Thank you
