Wicked Weeders for the week :)

Hi all. We have Greening Taupō Day coming up on Friday, June 2nd at Crown Park (same place as last year) It’s going to be so much fun. We have our Arbor Day planting alongside a huge range of environmental activities provided by many local organisations and businesses.

Taupō District Council have been amazing and have put in around 3000 holes and set up piles of mulch and vermicast around the planting site. The ground is pretty hard and some holes are a bit shallow, luckily, we have got some DOC support throughout the week, so they will check over the holes.

The plan for weeders tomorrow (Tuesday from 1230 p.m.) is to check over last year’s site, grub out any weeds such as broom, and release any plants that are getting a bit overgrown. Make it all look nice and tidy :)

Once the holes have been all checked, we are keen to put a scoop of vermicast and a fertiliser tablet in the hole before the plants get placed in the hole before the planting event. Plants will be arriving Wednesday at 9 a.m., Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday at 9 a.m. You are welcome to come along any of these times and help unload, vermicast, fert tablets, and laying out the plants on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am.

Dont forget your gloves and maybe a raincoat for a passing shower, you are welcome to bring along any tools that may help, I will bring along a selection of tools including the weed eater if it’s dryish maybe the lawn mower and the afternoon tea 1230-230 see you all there.

Crown Park Planting

We will be back here on the following Tuesday June the 6th from 1230pm to check over the plants and finish off anything that needs doing.

Cheers
