Wicked Weeders 21st February

Hi all, it's been nice to finally have a bit of summer, hope all are doing well and anyone that has friends and family out in the places affected badly by Cyclone Gabrielle has been able to connect, it’s absolutely devasting what has happened out there.

We’ve taken a quick look at many of our Greening Taupō sites most have weathered the cyclone well, Wairakei Drive was the area most affected with planting sites near the Hub and the Honey Hive being dealt with pines trees and blackwood trees coming down and making a heck of a mess.

Wicked weeders tomorrow The good weather looks like it’s going to continue so the plan is to head to the Matariki planting site, alongside the Waikato River. We will park up the top (Rickett St), and continue on from where we were a couple of weeks ago. We will look for plants amongst the long grass do releasing and staking, and deal with the broom that is forever coming back.

I will bring a selection of tools and paste the weed eater, stakes and the morning tea.  Don’t forget your gloves, the ground is uneven and hidden so best to wear some good footwear, it could be hot and sunny so don’t forget a sunhat and sunblock.

930am - 1130am we will park up the top and go from there.

Just give me a bell if you are unsure where to go at 027 6288008 or drop me an email for any comments

The plan for the following week is

We need to spend a bit of time at Hipapatua, a couple of trees have down onto the plantings but nothing to severe we will head along see what we can save and there is a bit of releasing of plants from Convolvulus.
