Wicked Weeders 20th August

Hi all,

I hope you are all staying nice and warm️. I am sure I just saw a bit of snow fluttering down outside the office window ❄️

Tomorrow, the plan for Wicked Weeders is to head back to Saturday’s planting site on Karetoto Rd, opposite the Huka Honey Hive. We had a wonderful community planting and got all packed up before the rain came in and watered the plants.

We will be checking the plants, making sure that they have all been planted correctly.

🌿Not too deep

🌿Not too shallow

🌿And have been heeled in nicely

We will check that all plants have a stake and have been mulched and it’s not touching the stem. All the mulch did get spread; if we do need some, we could get it from down the road 🤣

See you all at 1230 -230pm

It should be fine🌤️ but it could be cold so wrap up nice and warm, dont forget your gloves. I will bring the afternoon tea and some ties for some of the taller plants.

Coming up:

🌱Next week we will head to Hipapatua down near the river and check all the plantings.

🌱3rd of September is conservation week. We will head to the Matariki planting alongside the river and spread the mulch opposite the Kura on Rickett Street.
