Wicked Weeders 30th July

Hi all,

What a fantastic turnout last week! Thanks to everyone who came; you certainly cleared out a few woody weeds. We are hoping to return to the same site this week and finish off what we started. I reckon there is going to be a window of clear weather where we will be able to get out and finish off clearing the weeds. If I am wrong and the rain sticks around, stay home warm and dry.🌦️

1230-245pm

Wairakei Drive, just north of the entrance to the sanctuary

Cutting and pasting some woody weeds and releasing around the native plants, I will bring tools, paste and the afternoon tea 😁

See you all there!

Next week we are going to help out Heidi and her little planters and get some native plants in the ground at Whakaipo Bay. It will be a little bit earlier to fit into their schedule, and I will send out details closer to the time.

Wairakei Golf+Sanctuary is hosting another series of green talks this Thursday at 9.30 am. This month, guest speakers will discuss pests like possums, rats, and the threat of wallabies to our district, and a local volunteer, Nick, will share insights on trapping at Opepe Reserve. There is a $10 cover, but that goes towards the yummy morning tea, fresh scones and biscuits!
