Wicked Weeders 2nd July

Hi all,

A super exciting week this week. We are supporting the Tauhara Collective to put on two Matariki Planting Events to kick off an awesome new project to restore the native korowai (cloak) of Mt Tauhara

The community Planting Events are on Wednesday, July 3 and Saturday, July 6 with a total of 7,500 plants to go in 🌱

Tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd We need the weeders support to help set up the planting site from 1230pm

Plants are arriving at 1230pm from He Tipu, many of the plants are in T28 trays. We need to mix up the trays with a variety of species and then these will need to be put throughout the planting site. There will be plants in pots and these can be placed next to prepared holes. There will be a team of contractors that we are supporting.

Looks like there could be showers throughout the day🌦️ so be prepared with wet weather gear, warm layers and sturdy footwear as the ground is uneven and will be wet and slippery.

I’m bringing 4x wheelbarrows, some trays and morning tea. Extra wheelbarrows would be helpful.

Head to MT Tauhara via SH 5, and turn left onto Mountain Rd which is about 3km up from the ETA roundabout. Go to the end of the Mountain road and park. The start of the planting site is only a 2-minute walk from the parking, the site then heads up along the fenceline to the forest edge.

See you there 😊

Wednesday 3rd Everyone is welcome to join in on the planting or help support the day. The weather looks great 🌞
