Wicked Weeders 14th May

Hi all,

Hopefully, everyone has been staying warm and cosy.

For Weeders tomorrow we will head to the Upflow planting site on Wairakei Drive. There is a community planting here on Saturday. Shawn has been to check the site out and has trimmed the grass around the plants. He did notice there was a bit of rubbish accumulating around the site. So along with releasing any plants that need it, it would be awesome to get a few extra hands to do a bit of a rubbish cleanup.

The weather is supposed to be okay with cloud increasing in the afternoon, it could be a bit cool.

Remember your gardening gloves and bring any tools that may be helpful. Shawn will be on to it, providing a trailer and bags to easily take the rubbish to the dump.

I will bring the afternoon tea

I have discussed access with the project manager along Wairakei Drive. As long as we access the site from the southern end we are allowed through.

The site is about 1.5 kms up Wairakei Drive on the right. It’s before the large rest area and just before Q line, access into the forest area.

I will try and get there early and leave my car out. You can easily pull off the road and park on the grass.

Friday 17th Plant setup day. I do have a group from Pathways that can help out Friday morning.

Saturday 18th from 11 am Community planting everyone is welcome!

Tuesday 21st Return to the Wairakei Drive planting site to check all plants from 1230pm

Tuesday 28th Spa Park Kids Greening Site to help find and release 2023 planting day plants
