Wicked Weeders 3rd September 🌷

Hi all,

Wow what an afternoon today, Spring has sprung🌷I am sure it could all change overnight.

It is Conservation Week, check out the calendar below, it has a great collection of local events—something for everyone.

Hopefully, a couple of extras may come along to tomorrow’s Wicked Weeders. It’s a great opportunity to Take Action for Nature!

The plan for tomorrow is to head to the Matariki planting site along the river and spread mulch around the plants. We'll be working at the site opposite the Kura on Rickett Street from 12:30 to 2:45 pm.

I'll bring buckets, spades, and rakes for mulching the plants nearby. I might try to get there a bit earlier and use the weed eater to trim the long grass around some of the plants. I’ll also bring some grubbers and afternoon tea.

Let's hope we beat the rain 🌧️ Don’t forget to bring your gloves, and it might be a good idea to pack a raincoat just in case that band of rain comes through before we finish.

Next week:

🌱10th of September we will try Hipapatua again. We are planting here on the 14th so we will make sure the site looks good between 1230 and 245 p.m.

🌱13th of September Plants are being delivered for the planting at Hipapatua. We will have an early delivery and then another at 12/1230. It would be great to get support from 1130 am to start laying the plants out.

🌱14th of September Community Planting from 11am. Everyone is welcome.

🌱17th of September We will head back to the planting site at Hipapatua to finish off anything that got forgotten and check all the plants. All plants will need to be staked.
