Annual Contact Planting 2022

Contact Energy continues to plant 1000’s of native trees within the Taupō area. They annually join up with Greening Taupō to support a planting event along Wairakei Drive for the community, as well as providing additional trees for the Taupō Golf Club planting.

Contact’s plantings with the Greening Taupō community are regularly held in the middle of winter and the weather is usually unforgettable. We’ve seen everything from snow, wicked frosts, thick fog and in 2021 driving rain, so it was nice to see the 2022 planting was only just a wee bit chilly!

Despite the weather we always get a great turnout, this year we had over 100 people attend the event and with their help, we got 2,222 plants in the ground and mulch spread around the planting site. It was awesome to have the wonderful First Credit Union Taupō team on the BBQ for the day.
